Thousands of passengers have reportedly been affected, according to those at the scene. Some members of the public were outside in the cold and the rest were stuck inside the airport.
“The fire began in an air conditioning vent but was extinguished by the sprinkler system,” an airport spokesperson confirmed.
Because of the fire, the international check-in area and the arrival baggage hall have both been evacuated.
Travellers and guests have not been returned back into the terminal.
