Bassett will remain with the team, who play their opening match against South Africa in Liverpool on Monday morning (NZ tT), while shooter Kiera Austin will join the squad.

“We’re prepared for situations such as this and I’m confident the team we have for the rest of the series has what it takes to remain on track throughout this tournament,” said Diamonds coach Lisa Alexander.

Caitlin Thwaites, Steph Wood and Gretel Tippett will share the shooting responsibilities against South Africa.
